Description
The aluminium window sill is a made-to-measure finishing piece designed to cover the window sill after the installation of external thermal insulation. It covers the extra thickness added by the insulation beneath the window opening and directs rainwater away from the façade. Available in RAL 7016 (anthracite grey) or RAL 9001 (cream white) lacquered aluminium, it is supplied with its fixing brackets.
Technical specifications
• Cladding for window sills following external thermal insulation
• Extending an existing window sill that has become too short
• External thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS)
• Energy-efficient renovation
• New-build construction

The made-to-measure aluminium window sill is the component that provides a neat finish to a window opening after the installation of external thermal insulation. By adding several centimetres of insulation and render, EWI makes the original window sill too short: water no longer runs off beyond the façade and instead runs down the render, risking staining it or causing water ingress. Made to the exact dimensions of each window, this sill covers the entire new thickness of the wall and directs rainwater away from the cladding. It protects the edge of the insulation beneath the window opening – a crucial yet often overlooked detail that is vital to the durability of the external thermal insulation system. Made from lacquered aluminium, it is weather- and UV-resistant and requires no special maintenance. Two colours are available to match the window and door frames: RAL 7016 anthracite grey and RAL 9001 cream white. Fixing brackets are included: you receive a ready-to-fit flashing, with no additional parts required. It is designed for façade contractors, insulation firms and private individuals who want a clean, watertight finish at the window sill, whether for energy-efficient refurbishment or new-build projects.
Measure the depth once the insulation has been installed, or add the exact thickness of both the insulation and the render: this is what makes all the difference. If the overhang is too narrow, water will run down the façade and leave marks on the render within a few seasons. As for colour, RAL 7016 complements anthracite window and door frames, whilst RAL 9001 complements white or cream frames.
