Description
The 10×23 PVC external thermal insulation corner bead is an alkali-resistant, pre-fabricated PVC profile designed to reinforce and protect external corners in external thermal insulation systems. Sold in 2.5 m lengths, it incorporates a fibreglass mesh for secure anchoring in the render. Easy to install in fresh undercoat render, it ensures a clean finish to corners whilst preventing the formation of cracks and mechanical damage.

The 10×23 PVC external thermal insulation (ETI) corner bead, item number 121.230, is a pre-reinforced profile designed to reinforce and protect the projecting corners of externally insulated façades. Made from alkali-resistant PVC, it incorporates a fibreglass mesh compliant with ETAG 004, ensuring a strong bond with the undercoat render of the external thermal insulation system. Its main function is to protect the corners and edges of the façade, particularly around door and window openings, against mechanical impacts that may occur during construction or the building’s use. It also helps to prevent cracks from forming in the render in these areas, which are subject to particular stress. Sold in lengths of 2.5 metres, this corner bead is installed by inserting it, together with its reinforcement mesh, into the still-fresh base coat applied to the corner of the insulation panel. The mesh is then smoothed down with a trowel, and any excess render is removed before it dries. This simple installation method ensures a clean and durable finish to façade corners, a factor that is often decisive in the perception of the overall quality of an external thermal insulation project. Facade specialists and external thermal insulation contractors will find this corner bead a reliable solution for neatly finishing the projecting corners of their projects, whether in new-build or energy-efficient refurbishment.
This corner bracket is one of the few areas where I never compromise: an unprotected corner of a façade almost invariably cracks within the first few years. The additional cost is minimal compared with the risk of having to carry out repair work later on.

The pre-fibreglass-reinforced corner bead reinforces and protects protruding corners against impacts and cracks – a level of protection not provided by a corner finished solely with standard render, without a dedicated profile.
The 10×23 PVC external thermal insulation (ITE) corner bead versus an unprotected façade corner (without a corner bead)
Impact protection: Yes, rigid profile; Limited, render alone
Risk of corner cracking: Reduced; Higher
Integrated reinforcement mesh: Yes, fibreglass; To be added separately
Corner finish: Clean and straight; Depends on the installer’s skill
