Description
The drip profile for lintels is a fabric-reinforced PVC profile designed for installation on the underside of door and window lintels in external thermal insulation systems. Sold in 2.5-metre lengths, it prevents water run-off that could cause moisture to seep back towards the joinery. Featuring a glass-fibre mesh, it is installed by embedding it in the base coat plaster before the final façade finish is applied.
Technical specifications
Treatment of lintel undersides
Protection of joinery against water ingress
External thermal insulation (ETI)

The drip profile for lintels, reference 141.500, is a fabric-reinforced PVC profile designed for installation on the underside of door and window lintels in external thermal insulation systems. It plays a vital role in managing surface runoff on the façade. Its function is to divert rainwater running down the underside of the lintel before it reaches the window and door frames. Without this feature, water can seep in at the joints between the lintel and the window, eventually causing damp problems and unsightly marks on the façade. This profile incorporates a fibreglass reinforcement mesh which ensures its durable bond with the base coat of the external wall insulation (EWI) system. It is installed by bonding it to the insulation using the base coat, then smoothing the mesh before allowing it to dry in accordance with the system manufacturer’s recommendations. Sold in 2.5-metre lengths, it can be used to treat most standard lintels encountered on energy-efficiency renovation or new-build sites, and can be easily cut to the dimensions of the opening. Facade contractors and external thermal insulation firms will find this profile to be a reliable solution for preventing damp-related problems at lintels – a specific area that is frequently the source of complaints when not treated correctly.
Although often overlooked in quotes, this drip edge profile helps prevent common damp problems on the underside of the lintel. It’s a small investment that prevents real complications in the medium term.
